1) Summary: Costumers are outraged by the store's opening for Black Friday. Stores like Wal-Mart & Target are usually around the same time opening, but now they want to extend it to be at 10 pm so they can beat the other store's customers. People are complaining that they will probably miss this year's Black Friday from extending those hours earlier and having to miss their family's Thanksgiving dinner.

2) Central Argument: Customers don't want to miss their dinner with their families. Many are already deciding to skip this year's Black Friday from stores extending their hours earlier.

3) Assertions:
  1. "But judging from the negative reaction among dedicated Friday after Thanksgiving shoppers on blogs, Twitter and Facebook, the wave of midnight openings this year has crossed a line." - It shows just how much people are outraged by the extension of hours that will interfere with the holiday tradition.
  2. " 'With the economy the way it is, no one’s going to say, ‘I’m not going to do that, I’m going to quit or get fired over it.' " - This person, Ms.Nyberg, has a good point when it comes to the economy. We do not choose the hours we work, but rather our bosses and our businesses. So we would have to go even if it interferes with our Thanksgiving dinner.
4)
  • Assumption: I assume that businesses know about the Thanksgiving tradition, so why would they put their business over their family first?
  • Rebuttal: It would be best for the economy to raise sales and make more profit for us and the economy. It would also increase sales for Wal-Mart if they opened earlier than anyone else.
  • Qualification: One person, Anthony Hardwick is trying to move Target's 12 am opening to 5 am. I would also try to move an store's opening 'til  after 12 am, I think more around 3 am.
  • Generalization: For those who are rich, they wouldn't have much of a problem with Black Friday. They can still shop w/o the sales later plus it would affect their income. If it was a poor person, they would have to get up early and go to the stores to buy what they want for a limited time though since many people do come and its "first come, first serve".
